Buda Karts
Handmade offroad gokarts from Buda, Tx.
"Luck is the residue of design"
This is my first attempt at a website dedicated to my new passion which is homemade offroad gokarting.  I have been building custom bikes and RC cars for the last 25 years and just recently really looked at gokarts as a worthy pursuit.  When attempting to find any information on the net on how to build theses things I came accross either poorly produced sites that showed homemade viehicles with very little information save for a few pictures, or sites that offer really nice project plans but they are for a price, and they make sure they dont give you a good enough picture to figure it out yourself.  So that will be the main focus of this site, to begin a homemade gokart project, to take pictures of it at every stage, and finally to give as detailed a description as possible of what it is I have done and where it is that I bought the part or how I built it.  Finally, the ultimate purpose of this site is to release all this info into the public domain so that I may help anyone avoid the amount of trouble it takes to figure out how these things are put together.
I am using a 3D modeling program that is used by many professional engineering companies to design all the parts that I will fabricate myself.  Above is a sneek preview of the first design. For simplicity, it is totally unsuspended. For the most part only the frame will be custom made, all the rest of the parts and pieces are off-the-shelf and offered by many online gokart supply stores.  The design then shows both the parts that I will fabricate and  the parts that will be bought.  By doing this we will be able to see exactly what the final product will look like before we even touch a tool.  All the design will take place within the computer, we will begin to cut metal only when we have a material list with cut dimensions already figured out.  There will be no guess work in the shop.
Please remember that this site is brand new.  I will do a better job as I have time. The website will evolve in parallel with  the project itself.  I expect it should take a year from initial design to tearin up the dirt and grass.  So come back soon if you are iterested in how this thing will come together, I promise, if you are into gokarting, RC cars , or custom metal fabrication of any sort, this site will be worth watchin.
A final note to other people with similar websites.  I very much would like to link to any personal website that is dedicated to gokarting.  Off road is the main intent here,  on road professional gokarting is not what were talkin about, those things cost too much and dont go through the woods and you dont make it yourself.  If you know what Im talkin about and want to exchange links, email me at pqparker@yahoo.com .  Any questions about yard karting or of the processes that I will employ in the construction of my gokart can be addressed to the same .
